So You Want to Be a Guru huh?

Well, contrary to popular belief, today becoming a computer guru is simple. The most important things you need are patience, internet, and knowledge. You can obtain the knowledge from the internet if you know where to look. Most computer gurus know the ins and outs of at least 2 operating systems. Mine happen to be Ubuntu Linux and any Windows. They know at least 1 high level programming language (C++/Java), and 3 scripting languages(HTML/CSS/PHP/Javascript/Python). It also helps to play games, but that's optional. The types of people who naturally become guru's are those who enjoy overcoming challenges.

Communities are large, and very helpful. The number one rule is READ! READ! READ! Most of us willing to help, will help, but we don't do the work for you. We help you with analogies, information, and concepts. We expect you to put them together to do what you need. The unsaid rule I always break is: Even when you learn by example, more study is required to clarify yourself. Sometimes you assume things because they work, and much much later you find out your wrong and look like a complete moron in front of others, so if you don't take that feeling of remorse well, and you don't want it to cost you a job one day, always review something after you think you understand it, who knows you might learn something else.
